What would be the benefit for that? I don`t see a point to allow people to use HTML.

Benefit none, only more freedom when it comes to making a post, more complete, nice and worked.There's nothing wrong to be able to use html in a post, it is my opinion.

Most of time it should be safe, but if the implementation has a bug, it could be used to inject malware scripts.
